„Pretty much that. I was backcountry skiing and lost track of where I was when a fog suddenly rolled in. Schussing down thinking I was on a familiar face until I realized that I had moved more towards one side than I had thought and started cresting over a cliff I knew about. First solid clue was some black stuff suddenly becoming visible many meters below me and it immediately clicked in my mind what I had done. All I could do was hope I tracked out past the rocky landing and try to stick it. I carried out past the rocks and miraculously stuck the landing. It’s hard to not have vertigo when everything turns white in the fog. Stuck the landing and immediately sank into the powder a few feet and my skiis just stuck. Popped both bindings and made a face down snow angel and laughed my ass off at my good luck. I never skiied in unmarked terrain in the fog after that. In bounds the ski patrol put up cliff markers and rope stuff off. Out of bounds you need to be familiar with the terrain and not stray far in the fog. „
